This year’s conference featured a notable shift in format. Approximately eighty percent of presentations were delivered in German. Several originally scheduled English sessions were cancelled due to travel issues affecting speakers from the United States, reducing English-language content compared to previous years. No live translation was provided, which presented some accessibility challenges for international attendees.
Despite these limitations, turnout remained strong. The fair floor was active throughout the event, with high engagement from companies looking to improve their global communication frameworks and explore new advances in language technology.
Emerging Trends in AI-Driven Content Workflows
A significant portion of this year’s technical sessions focused on the rapid changes unfolding around AI. One of the core themes was the transition from traditional Retrieval Augmented Generation to a more adaptive model known as dynamic RAG. This newer approach relies on MCP, the Model Context Protocol, which enables large language models to connect directly to external data sources such as Jira, Wikipedia, or any platform that exposes content through an API.
With MCP, the model no longer requires pre-uploaded reference files. Instead, it pulls information dynamically from the connected source, providing a more flexible and scalable way to incorporate live data into AI-generated outputs. Presenters emphasized that MCP acts as a unified framework that simplifies integration and reduces the need for custom engineering work across tools.
This reflects a larger industry movement toward more intelligent and context-aware automation. Companies are exploring how AI can support writers, reviewers, and localization teams by giving models more precise and structured access to the information they need.
Terminology as an AI Guardrail
Terminology management was another recurring topic. Speakers emphasized the importance of enriched metadata to guide AI systems in using specialized terms correctly and consistently. When terminology includes definitions, usage notes, and clear context, language models demonstrate significantly better accuracy.
Keywords were also identified as helpful prompt elements. They improve the model’s ability to locate relevant information within a dataset and reduce the risk of broad or ambiguous output. This aligns closely with the work Vistatec already supports through terminology governance, glossary management, and high-quality linguistic assets.
As AI becomes more involved in content creation and review, companies will need strong linguistic foundations to maintain compliance and protect brand accuracy.
Hybrid Translation Workflows Gain Ground
Another area of interest was the use of hybrid translation models. Rather than relying on traditional MTPE, several presenters described a system where an AI agent is trained specifically on a client’s terminology, brand style, and a curated set of translation memory data. The agent produces an initial draft, performs its own quality checks, and highlights potential issues before the human reviewer steps in.
Although promising, this model requires a significant upfront investment. Clean data, active glossary maintenance, and continuous governance were all cited as essential for success.
