At Vistatec, giving back to the community is at the heart of what we do. Last year, we were proud to announce our partnership with Habitat for Humanity Ireland, an inspiring charity dedicated to supporting individuals and families facing significant challenges, including homelessness, domestic violence, and the need for care and stability.
Volunteering is one of the most direct ways a company can contribute to the communities around it. This article shares what that partnership has involved and what volunteers have taken away from the experience.

About Habitat for Humanity Ireland
Habitat for Humanity Ireland is a charity dedicated to supporting individuals and families facing serious challenges. These include homelessness, domestic violence, and the need for stable housing and care. The organisation’s work spans direct support for people in need and community-led initiatives that create lasting change.
Supporting the Launch of ReStore Dublin
In summer 2025, Habitat opened its first ReStore Dublin location at Unit 5, Slaney Road, Tolka Park, Dublin 11. The store sells affordable home improvement materials and uses the proceeds to fund Habitat’s vital charitable work.
On June 6, 2025, a group of dedicated Vistatec volunteers rolled up their sleeves to help prepare the store for its grand opening. The day was filled with energy and teamwork as volunteers took on a variety of practical tasks, including:
- Basic DIY work
- Wallpaper stripping
- Gardening and outdoor improvements
The team worked alongside Habitat staff to get the space ready for the public. It was a fantastic opportunity for our team to contribute hands-on support and play a role in bringing this meaningful project to life.

A Thriving Community Hub
Since opening, ReStore Dublin has grown into a busy and well-used community resource. The store serves local people in need of affordable home materials and generates income for Habitat’s programs. Its success shows what a well-run charitable retail operation can achieve.
Returning to Continue the Work
Our partnership didn’t end there. On Wednesday, 6th May 2026, another enthusiastic group of Vistatec volunteers returned to ReStore Dublin to lend their support once again. This time, the focus was on completing finishing touches, including painting.
For some of the volunteers, this was a full-circle moment, having been involved in the initial preparation of the store the previous year. It was a rewarding experience to see firsthand how the space had evolved into a busy, impactful community hub.
This return visit highlights our ongoing commitment to Habitat for Humanity Ireland and reflects the strong connection we’ve built together. It was another rewarding day of teamwork, purpose, and community engagement.
What Volunteers Learned on Their Visits
During our most recent visit, volunteers also had the opportunity to take part in an insightful session where we learned more about the impact of Habitat ReStore and the wider work of Habitat for Humanity Ireland.
We heard powerful stories about individuals who initially came to ReStore as volunteers and were supported with the tools, training, and confidence to develop new skills. Many of those people developed practical skills through the program and went on to build careers and establish themselves in the workforce.
These accounts gave the Vistatec team a clearer picture of what Habitat does beyond providing materials. The charity invests in people’s long-term prospects, not just their immediate needs. That context has shaped how the Vistatec team thinks about its involvement.
This session was both inspiring and eye-opening, deepening our appreciation for the organisation and the vital role ReStore plays in the community.
What This Partnership Involves
Vistatec’s collaboration with Habitat for Humanity Ireland has covered several areas of practical support:
- Hands-on preparation and maintenance of the ReStore Dublin site
- Participation in educational sessions about Habitat’s community programs
- Two separate volunteer cohorts contributing across 2025 and 2026
- Ongoing engagement with Habitat as the organisation expands, including planned growth to a new ReStore location in Athlone
Additionally, our continued partnership and collaboration with Habitat for Humanity reflects the type of community investment that Vistatec believes employers have a responsibility to pursue. It also offers employees a meaningful opportunity to contribute their time and skills beyond their professional roles, fostering a stronger sense of purpose, connection to the community, and pride in the company’s values.
Why Business and Charity Partnerships Work
When a business consistently commits to a charity partnership, the impact compounds over time. Volunteers gain context and skills. Charities benefit from reliable, capable support. Furthermore, employees who volunteer often return to work with a stronger sense of purpose.
This partnership continues to be a source of pride for everyone at Vistatec, and we look forward to many more opportunities to support Habitat for Humanity Ireland in the future.
