​The Role

Vistatec are currently recruiting for a Terminologist to work onsite at a client's office in Dublin 4. The Terminologist will collaborate with language specialists, product development teams, writers and localization teams. The terminologist will work with a large scale terminology system receiving and completing requests, and uploading and exporting terms as required.

Our client is a well-regarded and innovative multinational tech company, specializing in Internet-related services and products. These include online advertising technologies, search, cloud computing and software. You will be based in their European HQ, centrally located beside the Grand Canal Dock Dart station in Dublin 4.

The candidate should be a native English speaker, or possess a native-speaker level of English. Preferably they should have a background in translation and some knowledge of localisation processes. Experience of working with terminology systems is essential.

​The Responsibilities

  • General project management of our client's terminology:
  • receive source terms & triage
  • write/ improve definitions
  • validate  and send terms for translation
  • monitor terminology translation requests
  • upload translated terms to a termbase
  • Mining new terms with Acrolinx mining tool and creating new glossaries
  • Termbase maintenance
  • Documenting terminology process
  • Providing training on terminology to stakeholders
  • Involvement in special projects such as terminology clean-ups
  • Collection and monitoring of terminology metrics
  • Contribution to optimizing terminology processes and tools
  • Troubleshooting
  • Collaborating with internal teams and external resources

​Skills & Expertise

  • BA/MA in Linguistics/Computer science/Computational Linguistics/Translation studies/Philology, or other related Language Studies/IT field.
  • Ideally 2-3 years experience in a terminology role
  • Experience working with terms/glossaries and will have worked with and/or studied term databases
  • Native-speaker level of English – should have lived in an English-speaking country
  • Attentive to detail, interested in training and outreach activities
  • Will have studied other languages
  • Translation experience desirable
  • Localization industry experience desirable
